Recognition of prior learning
What is recognition of prior learning?
The Recognition of Prior Learning is a process whereby students can be exempt from some parts of their chosen programme of academic study by recognition of their learning from previous experiences or achievements as part of the admissions process.
It refers to the recognition of acquired ECTS credits/verification of learning outcomes through forms of prior formal education.
Formal education is an organized learning activity within the framework of approved programs of authorized legal entities, for the purpose of acquiring qualifications at level 6 and above of the Croatian Qualifications Framework (CRO).
Procedure recognition and evaluations previous learning is carried out for the purpose of :
- evaluations gatherings outcome learning within the framework program Faculty .
This reduces the number of courses required to complete student’s degree.
Applying for recognition of prior learning
In order to start the procedure of recognition of prior learning the following documentation is required:

Complete application form
- Certified transcript of records or a certified copy of diploma supplement from the higher education institution previously attended
- Certified detailed description of the course/study programme (content, number of teaching hours, learning outcomes and/or description of acquired competences, method of checking learning outcomes, list of literature, number of achieved ECTS points, etc.) for which recognition is requested.
All documents must be in Latin script and in English language. Officially attested English translation of the documentation is required if these weren’t originally written in English or Croatian.
Applications can be submitted once during the academic year and only within the specified period.
Applications that are not submitted in accordance with the instructions and received after the stated deadline will not be considered.
