REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL FOR ENROLMENT: Completed four-year high school, met prerequisite courses, passed the mandatory and optional tests and the state graduation exam (evaluation parameters to be determined for each academic year).

CURRICULUM

University Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study Programme of Medicine enables the student to acquire the following knowledge and skills:

relevant knowledge of the sciences on which medicine is based and a good understanding of the scientific methods, including the principles of measuring biological functions, evaluation of scientific facts and data analysis; sufficient understanding of the structure, functions and behaviour of healthy and diseased persons, as well as the relationship between the person’s medical condition and physical and social environment; relevant knowledge of clinical disciplines and practice, providing them with a coherent presentation of mental and physical diseases, of medicine from the points of view of prophylaxis, diagnosis and therapy and of human reproduction; relevant clinical experience in hospitals under appropriate supervision.

Access to further levels of study: Upon completion of the University integrated undergraduate and graduate study of Medicine, studying can be continued at a specialist postgraduate study or university doctoral study.

Possibility of employment: in all health institutions

Professional status: regulated by the Act on Regulated Professions and Recognition of Foreign Professional Qualifications (Official Gazette 124/09) and in compliance with the Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament

The Faculty of Medicine Rijeka is recognized by Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and registered in the World Directory of Medical Schools. The Faculty is also incorporated as a foundation of ECFMG . Students are eligible to take the USA (USMLE) and Canadian (MCC) medical licensing exams.
