CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ENROLMENT INTO THE FIRST YEAR OF THE UNIVERSITY INTEGRATED UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME OF MEDICINE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEADING TO THE ACADEMIC TITLE OF DOCTOR OF MEDICINE
in the academic year 2025/2026

Medical Studies in English language is an university integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme with a 6-year duration (360 ECTS). The maximum number of admitted students is 50, and all the admitted students are expected to pay the tuition fee in the amount of EUR 12.000,00 per academic year (EUR 200,00 per 1 ECTS). The cost of the application for the entrance exam is EUR 200,00. The academic year starts in October, and admission is possible only into the winter semester. The tuition fee must be paid in full at enrolment.

The cost of enrolment fee for the academic year 2025/2026 will be defined by the University of Rijeka (approximately 55,50 EUR).

Applicants who completed secondary school education, have taken the courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or related subjects for at least two years during secondary school education and passed the final graduation exam are eligible to apply.

Applications for Entrance Examination 

Applications are received for spring exam term until 9 working days prior to the exam term date and for summer and autumn exam term until 5 working days prior to the exam term date. Applications for the spring exam term should be sent by April 28, 2025, for the summer exam term by June 30, 2025, and for the autumn exam term by August 29, 2025. The week before the entrance exam takes place, an intensive preparatory course in Biology, Chemistry and Physics will be offered. The cost of the preparatory course is EUR 800,00.

The entrance exam will be organized on-site in a hybrid mode at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Medicine premises, Braće Branchetta 20/I, 51000 Rijeka and simultaneously abroad:

–      II. July 7, 2025

–       III. September 5, 2025

The results of the entrance exam will be published on the Faculty official website (https://medical-studies-in-english.com/) on:

–      II. July 7, 2025

–      III. September 5, 2025

The appeal period is 24 hours after the results are announced.

The fall entrance exam will take place only if there are available places left.

The documentation is submitted via a web application. When you receive the information that your application documents have been verified, please send the original documents by express post to the following address: University of Rijeka, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Studies in English, Braće Branchetta 20, 51000 Rijeka.

Candidates whose applications submitted in the previous years were blocked due to non-compliance with the rules of admission are no longer allowed to submit their application for enrolment in the University  Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study programme of Medicine in English language.

Incomplete and late applications and applications sent by e-mail or fax will not be considered.

Central Registration Office- „Postani student“

To apply for the programme of Medicine in English, all interested candidates must also register through the Central Registration Office- Postani student.   After registering, the Central Admission Office will verify personal data of the candidates and notify the candidates once this process is complete. Once the personal data is verified, candidates have to log into the “Postani student” and select “MEDICINE” as the programme they wish to enrol (choose: Medicinski fakultet u Rijeci, programme: Medicine) under Moj odabir (My choice) and submit the Request for the recognition of a foreign high school educational qualification (the last day for submission of the request is July 1, 2025). The request will appear on the personal profile of the candidates. Final deadline for applying for study programs is July 16, 2025 at 1:59 p.m.

The decision regarding the recognition of foreign high school qualifications will be sent directly by the Agency for Science and Higher Education to the higher education institution for enrolment purposes. Candidates will then be included in the joint list of the National Information System for applications to higher education institutions.

Call for applications in the English language, detailed application requirements, the number of available places after each exam term, application procedure, list of documents, and enrolment information will be posted on the Faculty website https://medical-studies-in-english.com/ and are constituent parts of this call for applications.

Enrolment schedule:

Spring and Summer term: July 17 – July 18, 2025
Fall term: September 18 – September 19, 2025

According to the schedule above, all the enrolments will take place from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm.

It is important that you enrol at stated times. Your enrolment is only valid for one academic year at a time.
