Graduation Exam and Thesis

Status: Compulsory Course
Students of the University Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study Programme of Medicine in English language complete their studies by writing a graduation thesis and passing the graduation exam.
Students do not have to defend their thesis publicly. However, the thesis is evaluated by the Graduation Thesis Evaluation Committee.
The graduation exam is organised twice in the academic year, in July and September. Students can apply for the graduation exam after passing all the exams of the study programme and receiving a positive grade for the graduation thesis.
The final grade is the sum of the average grade of the positively graded graduation thesis and the passed graduation exam. The student’s graduation date is the date of passing the graduation exam.

Schedule for preparation of graduation thesis and graduation exam

| Student chooses the topic of their thesis in agreement with the mentor and fills out the Application form for graduation thesis topic registration. The completed form must be submitted via the Merlin platform. | December |
| The Vice Dean for Teaching approves the submitted thesis topics, confirms the proposed members of the Graduation Thesis Evaluation Committee and publishes the list of approved thesis topics on the Faculty’s official website. | end of January |
| Student submits the draft version of their graduation thesis to the mentor. | May |
| Mentor enters information about the student’s graduation thesis into the ISVU system. | end of May |
| Student uploads the Form for graduation thesis evaluation and the Report on the originality verification of student work (Turnitin) on the Merlin platform. | end of June |
| Student deposits the approved version of their thesis in the Repository of the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka – Dabar. | mid-July (students who will attend the graduation exam in July)
